May 2019 - Ocean

IDE team up with Seas, Ocean & Public Health in Europe (SOPHIE) EU 2020 Project to examine the benefits and threats ocean human health has on human health, and vice versa. The ocean is home to many of the diverse species (which give us many of the medications for Western medicine) on our planet. With 97% of all water coming from the ocean it is vital we protect it. has a wealth of information, including a survey for you and your friends to take the next time you visit the beach, or partake in water activities. Data is power - we would appreciate you spreading the word as this survey & its results (good & bad) will have implications on EU regulations. Thank you!

April 2019 - Biodiversity

As the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have highlighted how human well-being is affected by the state of the global environment and the sustainability of ecosystems, the huge range of benefits which biodiversity provides to our health and well-being is largely underappreciated and unrecognised within the health community, and fails to inform critical decisions on global and regional health strategies. (1)

Human health ultimately depends on ecosystem products and services - and biodiversity loss can have a significant direct effect on human health if ecosystem services can no longer reach human needs.

March 2019 - Sustainable Consumerism

Fast fashion and overconsumption puts the fashion industry as the second most polluting industry in the world, which contributes more to climate change than international aviation and shipping combined, consumes lake-sized volumes of fresh water and creates chemical and plastic pollution.(1)
